A placer Au occurrence located in sec. 11, T2N, R14E, MDM, 0.8 km (2,600 feet) NW of Columbia, adjacent to the athletic field. The claim is 10 acres. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Local rocks include limestone of probable Paleozoic or Mesozoic age.
NOTE: Tin was said to have been found in a gold sluice on a White Land gravel claim; however, it is said to be 4 miles N of Columbia on the Stanislaus River, and possibly is not this claim. 2 mines are shown in the E½SW¼ of sec. 11, on map GP 561.
