A former lode Au claim/mine located in sec. 36, T2N, R15E, MDM, 1.1 km (3,800 feet) SW of Mono Vista and 1.5 km (4,900 feet) WNW of Soulsbyville. The claim is 9 acres. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
NOTE: Report of the State Mineralogist (report ?), p. 40 shows the location of the claim in sec. 6, but a later report (California Journal of Mines and Geology: 45: Pl. 8), which is the claim map, shows it in sec. 36, as indicated.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in diorite. The ore body strikes E and dips 80S at a thickness of 0.46 meter. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 60.96 meters, comprised of a 200 foot shaft on the vein.
