A former Cr claim/mine located in sec. 5, T1S, R14E, MDM, 0.9 km (2,800 feet) NNE of Chinese Station and 2.7 km (8,700 feet) NW of Chinese Camp. The deposit is near the foot of a low hill. The claim is about ½ mile N5E of Chines. Owned by Henry Sims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in Late Jurassic dunite. The ore body is lenticular in form. Local alteration is seerpentization of local rocks. The deposit occurs in the northern part of the westernmost part of 2 serpentine belts that trend NW across the county. The belt is exposed over an area 30 km by 6 km. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a small open cut and a water-filled inclined shaft 60 feet deep.
