A former lode Au mine located in sec. 28, T2N, R16E, MDM, 0.8 km (2,800 feet) N of Arastraville, along Turnback Creek (about 2 miles SW of Confidence, on the E side of the creek), on private land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a quartz vein deposit hosted in slate. The ore body strikes N18E and dips 45E. Heavy mineralized clay slates are on the hanging wall, siliceous slates are on the footwall. Diorite was encountered at the lower reaches of the shaft. The quartz vein has an average thickness of 12 inches (30 cm). An associated rock is the diorite. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 adits. The upper adit is 250 feet on the vein and the lower adit crosscuts the formation 300 feet. An inclined shaft was sunk on the vein at 420 feet deep.
