A former Cr mine located in sec. 24, T1N, R13E, MDM, 1.8 km (6,000 feet) N of Peoria Flat (coordinates of record), on private land. Owned by Rosasco. Operated by the Hastings Brothers. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Logtown unit (Late Jurassic dunite). The ore body is lenticular, strikes N80E and dips 90. Chromite occrs as a high-grade streak in low-grade, banded, disseminated ore. The deposit occurs in the northern part of the westernmost of 2 serpentine belts which trend NW-SE across the county. The belt is exposed over an area 30 km by 6 km. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a caved shaft and several small open cuts.
