A former lode Au mine located in sec. 25, T3N, R15E, MDM, 2.3 km (7,400 feet) N of Cedar Ridge, along the Stanislaus River (approximately 10 miles N of Soulsbyville, near Elizabeth Peak), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a quartz vein deposit hosted in slate and quartzite. The ore body is pinch-and-swell in form, strikes NE and dipd 45E. The quartz vein is 1 to 10 feet thick. Both walls are slate near the top of the workings. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 300 foot inclined shaft with 3 drift adits 1,500, 800 & 400 feet.
