A former lode Au mine located in sec. 22, T1N, R16E, MDM, 2.4 km (7,800 feet) SE of Buchanan, about 2½ miles SSE of Tuolumne and about 5 miles SSE of Soulsbyville, on private land in a National Forest area. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in slate-schist-quartzite rocks. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
