A former lode Au-Pb-Zn mine located in secs. 31 & 32, T2N, R16E, MDM, 0.1 km (400 feet) N of Cherokee and about ½ mile S of Soulsbyville (on ridge W of Cherokee Creek), on private land. Mining records list last operation in 1939. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in mica schist and granitic rocks. The ore body strikes N35W and dips 55NE at a thickness of 12.19 meters. This mine is situated on the "Eureka-Deadhorse vein" of the United Mines group. Both walls in this claim are schist, and the hanging wall contains diorite porphyry dikes. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 230 foot inclined shaft on the vein with N & S drifts on the 100 and 200 foot levels.
