A former Au-Pb-Zn mine located in sec. 5, T1N, R16E, and in sec. 32, T2N, R16E, MDM, 0.7 km (2,400 feet) SSE of Cherokee and 1.8 km (5,800 feet) NNW of Tuolumne (on ridge W of Cherokee Creek), on private land. Property consists of 3 claims. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with 2 veins averaging 18 inches thick each, hosted in granodiorite. The ore body is tabular, strikes NE and dips 75NW at a thickness of 0.46 meter. The Carlotta vein strikes N45E and dips 80NW. The Pennsylvania vein strikes N20E and dips 20E. The ore occurs in lenses within the vein. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 246 foot deep shaft on the Carlotta vein and 200 foot deep shaft on the Pennsylvania vein.
