A former Au mine located in sec. 13 (18 ?), T1N, R14E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) ESE of Jamestown, along Sullivan Creek (about 3½ miles SW of Tuttletown), on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Claim is 21 acres.
MRDS file note: "See card for Badger SESC13 [sec. 13] this TP [T&R] possibly these are the same mine & the correct location is sec 18."
NOTE: If this locality is in sec. 13, then it is in the Jamestown District. The coordinates provided in both of the MRDS files place it thusly. If it is located in sec. 18, then it is in the Tuttletown District. The MRDS file note above states "possibly" that the correct location is in sec. 18 (which mostly under water now). The data regarding sec. 13 are presented here.
Mineralization is a deposit which occurs as a quartz ribbon, hosted in slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips 60E at a thickness of 1.22 meters. The mine is located near the contact of diabase and slate, but the vein is wholly in slate. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a shaft 250 feet deep, 150 feet of drifts at the 200 level.
Analytical data results: Ore carries 1½% sulfides.
