A former W occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 9, T18S, R29E, MDM, 1.5 km (1.0 mile) NW of Cahoon Mountain (coordinates of record), along Cinnamon Creek, on National Forest land. Operated in 1943 and 1955-1956. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in marble and granodiorite. The ore body is vertical at a width of 1.22 meters. The strike of the contact roughly parallels that of the bedding in the marble, N15W with a vertical dip. For intervals along its strike, the marble is cut by strong shear zones following cross-fractures, or cross-fornts (faults ??), which are normal to granite contact. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 38.1 meters and comprised of 3 adits to a depth (?) of 125 feet.
Production data are found in: Goodwin, Joseph Grant (1958).
Ore was shipped in 1943. Active again during the period 1955-1956, with no production figures available. Ore grade was 0.5 to 1.5% WO3.
Analytical data results: A zone 3 to 4 feet wide contained 3.5 to 1.0% WO3.
