A former lode Au mine located in sec. 33, T35N, R10W, MDM, 3.1 km (1.9 miles) ESE of Dedrick, 2.3 miles E of the Dedrick lookout on the ridge between the lower main forks of the Big East Fork Canyon Creek, on Bureau of Land Management land (Trinity Alps Wilderness). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in hornblendite and diorite. The ore body strikes E-W to N50E and dips 70S at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Ore control included a fracture. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 5 (Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings. A lower adit is 78 feet long with a 32 foot drift. An adit 54 feet higher includes 30 feet of drifting on a gouge seam. Dumps from older works are about 600 feet to the N, indicating that they had possible length of 2,000 feet. Depression marks noted where old stopes are caved. A crosscut adit driven 125 feet to tap the vein was found in the older workings.
No production record was found.
Analytical data results: 2 samples assayed $11 and $15/ton (period values), in Au and carried about 1.5% sulfides.
