A Mn occurrence/claim/prospect located in the SW¼ sec. 18, T30N, R11W, MDM, 2.8 km (9,100 feet) SSE of Peanut, along Salt Creek, between its confluences with Ditch Gulch and Garden Gulch (about 0.5 miles from road up Salt Creek), on National Forest land (located claim). Discovered 1940. Owned by Robert S. and Harriet Hinch, California (1974). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a Mn occurrence. The ore body is 1.52 meters wide and 3.05 meters long. A block of carbonate ore 10 feet long and 5 feet wide is exposed to a depth of 2 feet. The ore resembles ore at the Manganese Queen Mine, but lies in meta-sediments. Some greenstone stringers are present. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified surface openings/operations.
