A former Cr mine located in secs. 20 & 21, T26N, R12W, MDM, (assumed spot on bounday of secs. 20 & 21 in center), 0.6 km (2,000 feet) ENE of Red Mountain (coordinates of record), in the headwaters area of the main channel Red Mountain Creek, on the E slope of Red Mountain (claim is located on the boundary between secs. 20 and 21), on Bureau of Land Management/National Forest wilderness land (Yolla Bolly-Middle Eel Wilderness). Discovered in 1939. Discovered by P.A. Pesula, Scotia, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a Cr deposit hosted in peridotite. The deposit occurs in one of several dike-like peridotite bodies that are NW-trending across central to SW Trinity County. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
