A Cr occurrence located in secs. 21 & 22, T30N, R12W, MDM (assumed spot at 3400 feet on the boundary of secs. 21 & 22), 5.5 km (3.4 miles) SW of Peanut, along tributaries in the headwaters area of Post Creek, on National Forest land. Discovered by Roy Shiell and William Pratti, Peanut, California. There was a dispute over ownership in 1918. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a Cr deposit hosted in peridotite. The ore body is lens-shaped at 1.22 meters thick and 6.1 meters long. The deposit occurs in one of several dike-like peridotite bodies that are NW-trending across central to SW Trinity County. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings included surface openings comprised of some trenching to 1.5 feet (1918).
