A former lode Au prospect/mine located in secs. 4 & 9, T34N, R11W, MDM, about 3.6 miles SSE of Stoveleg Gap, on the divide between Barney Gulch and Rich Gulch. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in slate. The ore body forms pockets, strikes E-W and dips 25N. Crawford (1896) describes the country rock as greenstone. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 7 (Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 420 foot adit, 500 feet of drifts and 1 stope (40 feet x 3 feet x 60 feet), and an old shaft.
Production data are found in: Brown (1913).
No specific production record found, but about $60,000 of Au (period values) was produced. The ore was free-milling.
