Texas mine
Chromite mine, about 150 yards (ca. 137 m) east of Wood's Chrome Mine. Magmatic deposits of Chromite.
Deposit: The mine was closed before 1875 because the operators were unable to cope with water in the shafts, the ore was reported to be low grade & mostly disseminated. A great deal of massive chromite, similar to the high grade ore in the Wood's mine, as well as some disseminated chromite was found in the ore by Pearre and Heyl (USGS Bulletin 1082k, page 778). No analyses of chromite or Cr Fe ratio are available. Date of comments 1975.
