A placer Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 31, T38N, R9W and in secs. 6 & 7, T37N, R9W, MDM, 3.7 km (2.3 miles) ENE of Coyote Peak (coordinates of record), on Bureau of Land Management wilderness land (Trinity Alps Wilderness). First produced 1896. Owned by Gilbert and Helen Gates, San Franscisco, California. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).
