A Mn occurrence/claim/prospect located in sec. 30, T1N, R8E, HM (300 feet N of the quarter corner between secs. 30 & 31, UTM approximate), 1.6 km (5,100 feet) ENE of Copper Hill, S of the Middle Fork North Rattlesnake Creek (on top of a ridge 300 yards SW of the Gool No. 2 claim), on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in chert. The ore body is 6.1 meters thick and 21.34 meters long. 3 bodies of red and purple manganiferous chert, which are from S to N, 35 feet long, 20 feet thick; 20 feet long, 10 feet thick; and 70 feet long, 20 feet thick. The chert is surrounded by greenstone, and serpentine appears to the W. Chert bodies contain coatings and some penetrations of Mn oxides. The southernmost body contains a bed 10 feet long, 3 feet thick, which consists of black oxide ore cut by quartz veins and containing patches of yellow-brown manganiferous chert, and may run 25% Mn. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains).
