A former lode Au mine located in secs. 29 & 33, T35N, R11W, MDM, 4.4 km (2.7 miles) SSE of Stoveleg Gap (coordinates of record), along Noonan Gulch, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in diorite. The ore body is a blanket/kidney in form, strikes 17-19.5NE and dips 10-45NW at a thickness of 1.83 meters. Narrow dioritic dikes intrude meta-andesite. The quartz contains free gold. Diorite and andesite are associated rocks. Local rocks include schist of various types and ages, unit 7 (Klamath Mountains).

Local geologic structures include a prominant fault with a strike of N60W and a dip of 47 NE. It cuts the vein near the W faces of the Lonely Jack workings .

Workings include underground openings. The main vein was stoped out for a length of 1,600 feet, 147 feet above the creek. Some stoping was developed on another branch vein. There is a 2,000 foot adit, 75 feet above the creek with the vein stoped out to the level above for a length of 350 feet from the lower level. A winze was sunk 180 feet and 100 feet of crosscuts were driven on the 50 foot level. More detailed descriptions of workings are found in Logan (1926).

Production data are found in: Averill (1941); Logan (1926) and Goodwin (1957).

Former lessees state that 100 tons from winze workings on the Lonely Jack claim yielded $6,500.00 (period values). Also stated that 3,000 tons of ore yeilded $110,000 (period values). The Enterprise claim on the opposite side of the creek stated to have yielded $100,000 (period values). No other production data were found.

No ore yielding less than $7/ton (period values) could be worked at a profit.

Analytical data results: 4 tons of concentrated ore assayed at $300-$400/ton in Au (period values) by flotation.
