A former Cr mine located in secs. 31 & 32, T30N, R12W, MDM, 6.3 km (3.9 miles) NE of Forest Glen, along Post Creek, E of its confluence with North Post Creek, on National Forest land. Owned by L.G. Taylor, Hayfork, California and/or estate of John D. Rourke, Hayfork, California. Operated by E.A. Lough, Hayfork, California (1954). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
NOTE: The MRDS database attributes this location to being within the Indian Valley Creek District. It is a considerable distance S of the Indian Valley Creek area (about 6 miles).
Mineralization is hosted in serpentinite. The ore body is lenticular at a width of 0.46 meters and a length of 60.96 meters. The deposit occurs in one of several dike-like peridotite bodies that are NW-trending across central to SW Trinity County. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 9 (Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Lower Cretaceous marine rocks.
Workings include surface openings comprised of several trenches (1943).

Hand sorting required to produce good grade chromite.
