A Mn occurrence located in the SW¼ sec. 13, T30N, R12W, MDM, 2.3 km (7,400 feet) S of Peanut, along Green Gulch a tributary of Salt Creek, on the crest of peak 3453, on National Forest land (located claim). Owned by Clarence Patton, California (1974). Operated by Vance and Barnes, California (1974). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in chert. The ore body is 60.96 meters long. Manganiferous iron ore occurs in thin-bedded chert, which is surrounded by greenstone. The chert strikes E and dips nearly vertical. The ore zone is in 2 parts; 200 feet long on the W end and 150 feet long on the E end. A barren zone 50 feet long separates the ore zones. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Analytical data results: The ore grade is 3 to 5% Mn and about 20% Fe.
