A former lode Au-Fe mine located in secs. 11 & 13, T33N, R8W, MDM (UTM estimated. Unsurveyed for township, range and section. Location projected), 1.2 km (4,000 feet) NE of Deadwood, along unnamed tributaries of Deadwood Creek. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Copley Meta-Andesite (diorite, porphyry and slate). The ore body strikes N40W and dips 40NE at a thickness of 4.57 meters. Diorite-porphyry intrudes slate. Fine-grained, andesitic-appearing rock was exposed in a crosscut. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 4 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).
Workings include numerous underground openings on the Zent claim, a crosscut was driven S for 124 feet to tap a vein consisting of gouge and crushed quartz. The East drift was driven 95 feet, exposing 2.5 feet of vein thickness. A raise driven into 15 feet of vein thickness. The West drift of 95 feetwas driven. The first 25 feet is in ore. A 25 foot crosscut was driven N from it.
Production data are found in: Averill (1941). No other production record was found.
Analytical data results: Assays of East drift in 2.5 foot thick vein on the Zent claim, $4-$15/ton in Au, average $7/ton. Assays of more than $20 per ton were disregarded.
