A former Cr occurrence/mine group located in secs. 2 & 3, T28N, R10W, MDM, 1.9 km (6,300 feet) NNW of Little Red Mountain, along Little Red Mountain Creek, on National Forest land. Owned by H. A. Robinson (Redbird) (1965). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a Cr deposit hosted in rocks of the Knoxville unit (serpentinite) (Late Cretaceous - Late Jurassic). The ore body is lenticular in form. This group is at the S end of the Beegum Creek body, an irregularly exposed ultramafic belt that trends NW from Little Red Mountain into Trinity County. The exposed ultramfic rock is 3 to 4 km wide in the vicinity of Little Red Mountain. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
