A former Cr mine located in sec. 7 (assumed spot at the center of sec. 7), T28N, R9W, MDM, 2.0 km (6,700 feet) ENE of Little Red Mountain (coordinates of record), between easterly-flowing unnamed tributaries of the South Fork Beegum Creek, on National Forest land. Last production was in 1955. Operated by the Utah Chrome Co. (1965). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Knoxville Formation (serpentinite) (Late Cretaceous - Late Jurassic). This mine is at the S end of the Beegum Creek body, an irregularly exposed ultramafic belt that trends NW from Little Red Mountain into Trinity County. The exposed ultramfic rock is 3 to 4 km wide in the vicinity of Little Red Mountain. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
