A former Cr-PGE (Ir-Pt-Rh-Ru-Pd) occurrence/mine located in secs. 7 & 18, T28N, R9W, MDM, and in secs. 1, 11 & 12, T28N, R10W, MDM, 1.6 km (5,200 feet) E of Little Red Mountain (NOTE: This position based on plotting of coordinates provided. The MRDS database notes state that this mine is located on the N slope of the mopuntain), along an unnamed tributary of the South Fork Beegum Creek, on National Forest land. Owner H. T. Moore, H. A. Robinson 1965. Produced in 1924, 1942-1943, 1945, and 1952-1956. The group includes many claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. The UTM given is for the PGE sample site location. Lat/long given is for the northernmost prospect symbol shown on topo map in sec. 12; UTM for this is: 4459650N, 504660E. PGE sample location is W of most of Red Mountain prospects.
Mineralization is a Cr-PGE deposit (Deposit model: 15: Podiform chromite (minor)), hosted in dunite. The ore body forms lenses and pockets. Controls for ore emplacement included magmatic segregation. Alteration is local and involves the serpentinization of ultramafic rocks. Associated rocks include peridotite. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).

Production information: Some high-grade ore shipped in 1945. May also have produced in 1952-1956.
Analytical data results: 5 PGE analyses: Pt = <10 - 2,530 ppb; Pd = <1 - 12 ppb; Ir = <20 - 2,930 ppb; Ru = <1 - 4,930 ppb; and, Rh = 1 - 92 ppb.
