A former lode Au mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 24, T48N, R9W, MDM, 0.7 km (2,200 feet) NE of Sterling Mountain (on/near the northern summit), along the Oregon state line.
Mineralization is hosted in peridotite, schist, and gneiss. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
Workings include numerous pits.
