A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ sec. 33, T19N, R11E, MDM, 1.9 km (1.2 miles) SSE of American Hill, along Bear Creek near its confluence with the Middle Yuba River (W canyon wall of the river) (5 miles E of Alleghany), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granite. The ore body strikes NE and dips 70W at a thickness of 0.46 meters. The quartz vein and stringers are 8 to 18 inches (20 to 45 cm) thick and are hosted in porphyritic granite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 4 (Klamath Mountains and Northern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings.
