A former Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 5, T20N, R9E, and in sec. 32, T21N, R9E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 miles) NNE of Poverty Hill, on National Forest land. Property is comprised of 1,100 acres. Owned/operated by the Middle Earth Mining Company. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. USGS MRDS database file note: Consolidation of several claims of old........(incomplete). It would seem that this is a placer Au occurrence but this is not stated in either MRDS file.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file # presents geographic coordinates of -120.97884, 39.54958 for this locality, placing some distance to the E of Poverty Hill. It would appear as if these coordinates are the least accurate.
Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided) and/or Eocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern and Central California).
Workings include unspecified surface openings.
