A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼ (estimated) sec. 34, T19N, R10E, MDM, about 2.2 km SSW of Alleghany, along the S canyon wall of Kanake Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. This claim/mine was acquired by, and incorporated into, the Sixteen-to-One Mine ownership during the 1920's.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Late Permian schist and serpentinite. The ore body strikes N62W and dips 60NE at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The vein occurs on a normal fault, on the hanging wall from the Sixteen-to-One vein. The Ophir vein veers sharply towards parallelism. There is also minor thrusting here. Quartz is discontinuous. At one place it is absent for 300 feet along the fault. The quartz reappears near the N shaft. There are 2 branch veins that don't seem to continue far from the main vein. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 adits and 2 shafts from the lowest adit. The extent of the lowest workings is unknown but several thousand feet of drifts exist at the least.

No other production record was found.
Practically all production came from the region of the bend in the vein.
