A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 8, T129N, R11E, MDM, 3.2 km (2.0 miles) NNE of Cornish House,N of Carney Creek (tributary of Jim Crow Creek), E of Jim Crow Creek, and SSW of Quartz Point (summit) (3¼ miles SE of Downieville), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Adjoins the Papoose Mine.

Mineralization is a vein deposit with pockets, hosted in slate and porphyry. The ore body strikes N and dips E. The vein is quartz and has altered wall rocks. The hanging wall is slate and the footwall is porphyry. The best ore was found in pockets. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).

Workings include underground openings with an overall length of 914.4 meters and comprised of 2 adits, one of which has an 80 feet of drifts, and the other of which has 100 feet of drifts.

Production data are found in: MacBoyle, Errol (1920b).

Production was intermittent.
