A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SW¼NW¼ sec. 27 & in the E½NE¼ sec. 28, T20N, R12E, MDM, 1.2 km (3,800 feet/0.7 mile) NE of Sierra City, along the W canyon wall of the North Yuba River, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is vein deposit with ore shoots hosted in andesite and diorite. The ore body strikes NW and dips 45NE. Country rock is fine-grained igneous rock. Ore shoot 70 feet thick (?) (long ??), 2 to 12 feet thick, average 3 1/5 feet, and rakes to the SW. Local rocks include Quaternary glacial deposits.
Workings include underground openings comprised of 2 adits, one at 600 feet with 300 feet of drifts. The distance along dip between the 2 adits is 237 feet.
