A former lode Au occurrence/prospect/mine located in secs. 4, 5, 8 & 9, T19N, R11E, MDM, about 5 km NE of Cornish House, S of Quartz Point summit, N of Shannon Ravine (tributary of Jim Crow Creek), and E of Jim Crow Creek, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Other locations in secs. 5, 8 & 9.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and granite. The ore body is a pinch-and-swell body that strikes N and dips 45E at a thickness of 0.91 meter. Two quartz fissure veins varying from 6 inches (15 cm) to 3 feet (0.91 meter) in thickness. The N extension has a slate footwall and a granite hanging wall. The blanket vein has sdlate on both walls with a dip of 10E. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with an overall length of 457.2 meters and comprised of a shaft and adit.
