A former lode Au occurrence/prospect/mine located in sec. 9, T19N, R11E, MDM, 4.2 km (2.6 miles) NE of Cornish House, in the headwaters area of Carney Creek, on the lower W slope of Granite Mountain (7 miles SW of Sierra City), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Located near, or the same as, the Eagle Bird Mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body is a large ledge. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 4 (Klamath Mountains and Northern Sierra Nevada).
