A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 35, T19N, R10E, MDM, about 1.8 km (about 1 mile) E of Alleghany, along Kanaka Creek, next to the Dreadnaught Mine, on private (patented) land within a National Forest area. The property comprises 2 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite, Late Permian schist, and serpentinite. The ore body strikes N29W and dips 40NE. At surface, the vein strikes WNW and dips 60N. Serpentine is slightly carbonatized at contact. A large mass of serpentine occurs just E of the workings. A small mass of serpentine apparently crosses the main vein. The vein may intersect the adjoining Belmont vein. There are outcrops of quartz. There is an unknown amount and direction of displacement along the vein. The dip is steepest at ends of the drift where quartz pinches into stringers. Nearly parallel but steeper vein, with a maximum thickness of a few inches is cut by a vertical fault with a NE strike. A serpentine contact near the portal dips vertically, but below the adit it must be steep to the E. Local alteration includes carbonitization of serpentine. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 67.06 meters and comprised of 2 adits, drifts and raises totaling more than 700 feet.

Production data are found in: Ferguson & Gannett (1929).

Some reports gave a total production of $200,000 (period values). Idle since 1894.
