A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 33, T19N, R10E, MDM, 0.6 km (0.4 mile) SW of Smiths Flat (coordinates of record) and about 1.1 km (3,500 feet) WSW of Alleghany, along the E canyon wall of Wet Ravine, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and serpentinite. The ore body strikes N05W and dips 55SW. The vein follows the same course as the General Sherman prospect to the S. The vein is 3 to 5 feet thick with slate on the W and serpentine on the E. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided) and/or undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
