A former Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in the NE¼NE¼ sec. 10, T18N, R9E, MDM, 2.5 km (1.6 miles) ESE of Grizzly Gulch (townsite), about 2.5 km ENE of Pike, along the W ridge of Grouse Creek (6 miles WSW of Alleghany), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The quartz vein strikes N30-40W in highly weathered metamorphic rocks. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 6 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include surface openings comprised of a 1,200 foot trench.
Production data are found in: U. S. Bureau of Mines Minerals Yearbook for 1944 (1945), Volume 3.
Production statistics: Year: 1944: Ore (accurate): ^0.33 ounce (9 grams)/ton Au; 0.038 ounce (1 gram)/ton Ag.
For 180 tons of ore, 60 ounces Au and 7 ounces Ag were extracted in 1944. No other production record was found. Production in 1944 was small.
