A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼SW¼ (estimated) sec. 2, T18N, R10E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.5 mile) NW of Plumbago and 0.9 km (0.6 mile) ESE of Chips Flat (1 mile SE of Alleghany), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate, schist, gabbro and diorite. The ore body strikes N30W and dips 50NE. The country rock in the upper adit is dark slate and schist. Only one distinct vein is present, although a little quartz occurs in an E-dipping slip that may be the vein of the lower adit. Wallrocks of the lower adit are amphibolite schist and slaty phases, also cut by gabbro and diorite dikes with some greenstone tuffaceous schist and sheared black schist. Two veins and a third which may unite with one. Steeply-dipping gouge is present. Evidence of post-mineralization fault movement observed, especially in the lower adit. The E vein is displaced by a fault at small angle to the vein. Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided) and/or Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of 2 adits, the first is 1,200 feet N of the Irelan Mine and the second is below.

Produced not more than a few hundred dollars worth (of Au - period values). No other production record was found.
