A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 27, T19N, R10E, MDM, 1.0 km (0.7 mile) ESE of Forest along the crest of Pliocene Ridge (1 mile N of Alleghany), on private land within a National Forest area. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. Mine is idle and inaccessible.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with ore shoots. The ore body strikes N02W and dips E. The main vein lies between 2 belts of serpentine and may be the same as the one at the South Fork Mine. 300 feet W is a shear zone vein with some quartz that strikes N and dips 60W. Several small ore shoots of high-grade ore occur at junctions of the main vein with minor branches. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include unspecified surface openings and underground openings, including the Amethyst shaft.
