A former Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 32, T19N, R9E, MDM, 1.9 km (1.2 miles) NW of Pleasant View (locale) and about 4.8 km N of Pike, along the W canyon wall of Marion Creek (8 miles W of Alleghany), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. USGS MRDS database file note: some question exists as to mine's location - have located according to (USGS) mineral record card; see geologic map for California Chico sheet - seems to think that it should be in the SW¼.
NOTE: This mine is apparently listed as the American Flat in Clark.
Mineralization is vein deposit. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include surface and underground openings.
