A former lode Au-Ag-Pb-Cu-Zn mine located in sec. 32, T33N, R7W, MDM (coordinates estimated; section projected), 4.1 km (2.5 miles) WNW of French Gulch on the divide between Right Fork French Gulch and Scorpion Gulch. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

NOTE: The MRDS file for this mine provides an alternate name of the "Philadelphia and Roosevelt Mine." MRDS files pertaining to that mine make no reference to the St. Jude Mine. The estimated coordinates provided place the 2 mines about 400 feet apart.

Mineralization is hosted in diorite. The ore body forms lenses, strikes N70E and dips N at 0.51 meters thick. There are 3 parallel veins. A thrust fault at shallow depth offsets the veins. The deposit is in diorite porphyry underlain by flat-lying slate. Lenses in the vein produce high-grade Au ore. The lenses are a few inches to 4 feet wide. Gold is associated with argentiferous galena and minor chalcopyrite. Alteration is local. Local rocks include carboniferous marine rocks, unit 4 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings consisting of a 350 foot adit and 600 feet of drifts.

Production data are found in: Lydon, P. A. and O'Brien, J. C. (1974).

No production since 1946. Each lens produced 15 to 30 tons of ore.

Analytical data results: Au:Ag ratio 3.5:1. Au from lenses valued at $100/ton (period values).
