A former lode Au mine located in secs. 15 & 22, T31N, R6W, MDM (sections projected), 3.2 km (2.0 miles) NNE of Igo. Production years were intermittant from 1856 to 1933. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in greenstone and diorite. The ore body is pinch and swell in form, strikes N and dips steeply W, at a thickness of 1.22 meters. The vein is 15 inches to 4 feet thick. The vein is iron stained in the oxidized zone. A sulfide zone was encountered at depth. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 4 (Klamath Mountains and Northern Sierra Nevada) and/or Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 1 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings comprised of 3 shafts: A 90 foot deep shaft exposed an ore shoot 4 to 16 inches x 100 feet, of high-grade value; a second shaft at 75 feet deep has 210 feet of drifts; and the third shaft at 55 feet deep has 380 feet of stopes.
