A former lode Au mine located in sec. 28, T33N, R6W, MDM (coordinates accurate; section projected) 2.9 km (9,400 feet) WNW of Iron Mountain (summit) (coordinates of record), along Mad Ox Gulch, a tributary of Whiskey Creek. Located 1911. The property is comprised of 3 claims. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in andesite. The ore body is pinch and swell in form, strikes N27E and dips 90-80E at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Ore control included a shear zone 4 to 6 feet wide. An alaskite porphyry dike occurs in the shear zone containing quartz. The ore vein varies from thin gouge to 4 feet thick. A dike near the vein is silicified and partially replaced by calcite. No visible sulfides. Local rocks include Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 1 (Eastern Klamath Mountains).
workings include underground openings with a length of 609.6 meters and an overall depth of 45.72 meters. Underground operations consist of a 900 foot crosscut adit and 1,100 feet of drifts. There are 2 ore shoots 60 feet x 2 to 4 feet at 100 feet apart.
