A former Hg occurrence/mine located 1.7 km (1.1 miles) WNW of New Almaden, on county land (Almaden Quicksilver County Park). Discovered in 1864. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in sedimentary rocks & Late Cretaceous serpentinite. The ore body is irregular. Controls for ore emplacement included the domal structure and fracturing. Local alteration includes silica carbonate alteration of serpentine. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan Complex, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).
Local geologic structures include the crest of a domal structure.
Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings with a length of 3,048 meters.
