A former Hg occurrence/mine located SW of New Almaden, on county owned land (Almaden Quicksilver County Park). Discovered in 1846. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Franciscan Complex (Late Cretaceous serpentinite). The ore body is irregular. Controls for ore emplacement included local fracturing and irregularities in a contact. Local alteration includes silica carbonate alteration of serpentine. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan melange.
