A former Mn-silica occurrence/mine located in the NE¼SW¼SE¼ sec. 27, T6S, R5E, MDM, about 8.0 km N of Black Mountain (summit), along the N side of Del Puerto CAnyon at its confluence with Adobe Canyon, on private land. Discovered in 1918. Owned by Richard G. & Rosalind N. Bongiovanni (100%), California (1975). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

NOTE: The USGS MRDS database file presents MRDS file #10033597 as a related file. This latter file places the locality, if it is the same one, in Santa Clara County. The locality name in this file is simply "Mexican prospect." There are quite apparently multiple prospects with the name "Mexican," with a couple of them numbered (No. 1 & No. 3) with No. 2 missing. The locality represented by MRDS file #10033597 may be the No. 2.

The ore body strikes N85E and dips 85S at a thickness of 5 meters, depth-to-top of 3 meters, width of 1 meter and a length of 200 meters. Ore body No. 1 is sedimentary and lenticular. Ore body No. 2 is disseminated and irregular. The primary mode of origin was oxidation and the secondary mode was residual concentration. Primary ore control was lithology and the secondary ore control was bedding. There is no wallrock alteration. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include unspecified surface and underground openings.
