A Cr occurrence located in sec. 12, T6S, R4E, MDM, 2.0 km (1.2 miles) WNW of Red Mountain (coordinates of record), S of Blackbird Canyon, E of the confluence of Sweetwater Creek with Colorado Creek. Owned by K.D. Winship (1918). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
A Cr deposit occurs in an ultramafic mass 8 miles long and 1¾ miles wide. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 3 (Coast Ranges and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface openings comprised of several open cuts.
Production information: Between 245 to 290 long tons were produced from the Winship properties.
Analytical data results: The ore contained less than 35% Cr2O3.
