Ore occurs in thin chert beds interbedded with sandstone. The ore bodies are pockets and lenses in manganiferous chert, and the area is cut by numerous faults. The ore is siliceous manganese oxides. Thin quartz veins enclose pockets of manganese oxide mixed with rusty-colored, leached chert. The ore is cut by thin veins of brown carbonate in places. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan melange.
Workings include unspecified surface openings/operations. 5 deposits developed.
Analytical data results: Ore grade is less than 35% Mn.
