A former Mn mine located in the NE¼ sec. 11, T4S, R4E, MDM (UTM approximate), 4.2 km (2.6 miles) S of Castle Rock and 0.8 km (2,700 feet) S of the Ladd Mine (at the crest of the ridge across the canyon SE of the Ladd Mine), on private land. Discovered in 1914; first produced in 1915. Owner Harold B. Frybarger Et. Al 100.00 California 1975 Ownership is fee ownership. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Franciscan Complex (Late Cretaceous chert). The ore body strikes N35W and dips steeply 70S at a thickness of 3.05 meters and a length of 18.29 meters. The 2 ore bodies are 1.) sedimentary and irregular, and, 2.) shear zone. The primary mode of origin is sedimentation and the secondary mode is hydrothermal emplacement. Primary ore control was fracturing and the secondary control was bedding. There is no wallrock alteration. The ore bodies are near the base of a thick lens of Franciscan chert in approximately the same strategraphic horizon as the Ladd Mine. The bodies are 25 feet apart. The No. 2 ore bed is manganese oxide in a siliceous matrix, with less than 10% Mn. The No. 1 ore bed is over 60 feet long, 8 to 10 feet thick, and extends 30 feet up and down the dip. This bed contains high-grade ore. The ore material present is cellular chert veined and partly replaced by manganese oxides. The lower ore body is offset vertically by at least 3 faults which strike NW. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan melange and/or Plio-Pleistocene and Pliocene loosely consolidated deposits.
