A former Au-Cu occurrence/mine located in the E½SE¼SW¼ of sec. 8, T32S, R45E, MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) ESE of Opal Mountain (coordinates of record), along the southern margin of the mountain. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in quartz monzonite. Minor Cu-stained quartz (found on dump). The ore body strikes N80E and dips 70S. The deposit involves a 4 foot wide shear zone. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 25 foot incline.
